50th Anniversary March on Washington (Aug 24, 2013)
Tens of thousands gathered on the National Mall on Saturday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 March on Washington. The event was sponsored by the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network. Following remarks from civil rights and labor leaders, rally goers would march east from the Lincoln Memorial to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. From there, the crowd proceeded to the Washington Memorial before dispersing.
The general consensus that much more work still needs to be done in the arena of civil rights found expression in the many colorful signs, banners and flags.
