The 33rd Marine Corps Marathon took place on October 26th 2008. Weather conditions were excellent as 18,261 runners finished a course which wound around Washington's famous monuments. First time marathoners Andrew Dunn and Cate Fenster won in the mens and womens divisions. These photographs, which include the eventual top finishers, were taken at Mile 19 on the Washington Mall only a few blocks from the Capitol. The US Marine Corps and members of the Young Marines youth program were on hand to shout encouragement and hand out refreshment for the runners.
