Fracking, Cove Point

In front of the FERC headquarters building, Nadine Grabania of Friendsville Md. carries a sign that reads "Don't Frack My Home". Hundreds of environmental activists rallied near the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. before marching to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) headquarters on July 13, 2014 to urge FERC to reject a permit for Dominion Resources' proposed LNG export facility at Cove Point, Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay, claiming it would pose a major threat to the environment. Cove Point is one of about two dozen projects that hope to ship a growing bounty of domestic natural gas to countries in Asia and Europe. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is located at 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. approximately three blocks from the Union Station Metro station. (Photo by Jeff Malet)
