Senator Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii) (left) Noel Okamoto (center), currently living in Ogden Utah, was born in Hawaii. He joined the Army in March 1943. He was eventually assigned to the 442nd RCT, 232 Combat Engineer Company. He entered Italy from Naples and fought up through Anzio. He was a truck driver and was wounded in Italy. Edgar Hamasu (right) is now president of the Millitary Intelligence Service Veterans Club of Hawaii. Edgar served in the Korean War as an intelligence specialist. Edgar's older brother, Ted, had been drafted in 1940. He ended up in the 100th Infantry Battalion Separate, fighting in southern Italy. - Jeff Malet Photography in Action
