Washington DC 11-21-09 Today, thousands of people from the D.C. metropolitan area came together on the National Mall for the 22(nd) Annual Help the Homeless 5K Walkathon. This year's Help the Homeless Program beneficiaries are 134 nonprofit organizations that work to prevent and end homelessness in the Washington metropolitan area. The program also seeks to build awareness by educating the community, particularly young people, about the issues facing homeless people.
